Shocked Mutation in Grow a Garden
The Shocked mutation is a thunderstorm-family trait that strikes a crop with lightning during a thunderstorm event, giving it an electric-charged look and a high value multiplier — the community-reported range puts it around 100x the crop's base value, making it the strongest mutation a normal garden can realistically catch. Shocked is an event mutation: it only applies while a thunderstorm is active on your server, and only to crops that are planted and growing when the lightning lands. That makes it one of the highest-reward weather-chasing mutations in the game — rare enough to be exciting, predictable enough to prepare for.
What makes Shocked special is the combination of a strong multiplier with a semi-predictable trigger. Rain, Wet, and Chilled roll quietly on many crops at once; Shocked lands as a visible lightning strike, a dramatic server-wide moment that everyone in the server notices. A single strike on the right crop can outearn a full hour of ordinary farming, and Shocked stacks multiplicatively with everything already on the fruit. How the Shocked Mutation Is Triggered
Shocked requires one specific event, and the details of the window matter:
- A thunderstorm event starts on the server. Thunderstorms are a rained-out weather variant — the sky darkens further, lightning flashes appear, and thunder is audible.
- While the thunderstorm is active, lightning strikes land across the server, each one targeting a random crop that is planted and growing. Not every crop is struck — the event lasts minutes, and the strike count is limited.
- A struck crop becomes Shocked, gaining the electric appearance and the multiplier.
- The Shocked state is permanent on that fruit until harvest. Any growth mutations already on the crop — Gold, Rainbow — remain, and later weather still stacks on top.
The two preparation facts that decide your results: only planted crops can be struck, and strikes are limited, so a full garden of high-value crops during a thunderstorm is the entire strategy. Players who see the dark sky and start harvesting are throwing away the best moment of the weather cycle.
Shocked Mutation Value Multiplier
The community-reported range places Shocked around 100x base value — far above the 2x-tier rain and cold states and the 20x-tier growth rolls. On a base-value table:
| Crop Base Value | Shocked Sale (approx. 100x) |
|---|---|
| 20 Sheckles | ~2,000 Sheckles |
| 500 Sheckles | ~50,000 Sheckles |
| 10,000 Sheckles | ~1,000,000 Sheckles |
| 100,000 Sheckles | ~10,000,000 Sheckles |
The stacking story is where Shocked becomes a headline. Multipliers multiply together, so a Wet + Shocked crop — the classic rain-into-thunderstorm sequence — sells at roughly 2x times 100x, around 200x base. A Gold + Shocked crop is near 2,000x base value, and community sale compilations routinely feature struck rainbow fruit above 5,000x. This is why veteran farmers treat a thunderstorm over a gold-heavy garden as the best scheduled payday in the game.
How to Farm Shocked Mutations Deliberately
You cannot call lightning, but thunderstorms announce themselves — and that announcement is your window to act:
- Plant high-value crops the moment a storm appears likely. Darkening skies and weather forecasts in community trackers are your cue. Empty plots during a thunderstorm are the most expensive mistake in weather farming.
- Keep the garden full and growing. Strikes target planted crops. Every plot you fill is a ticket in the lightning draw — this is the highest-leverage preparation in the entire mutation system.
- Do not harvest during the storm. The most common mistake by far. Wet-level patience applies double here: the storm is when the big multiplier lands, and harvesting mid-storm forfeits your strike chances.
- Stack growth mutations first. A Gold crop that gets struck becomes one of the most valuable ordinary-play harvests possible. Keep gold and rainbow fruit planted through every storm.
- Layer Wet before the storm. Rain usually precedes or accompanies thunderstorms. Crops that caught Wet keep it when struck, and the combined sale is roughly double the Shocked value alone.
- Use luck-oriented gear and pets. Sprinklers and mutation-boosting pets improve your overall roll quality. Check the all gear page and the pets tier list for current best options.

Shocked Mutation Appearance
A Shocked crop crackles with visible electric sparks and arcs, and the name tag prefixes the crop name with "Shocked" — for example, "Shocked Watermelon." The visual is dramatic and server-visible — players often broadcast strikes in chat — which makes Shocked one of the easiest mutations to verify in a trading lobby. If you are buying, check the tag; screenshots of the spark effect are not proof on their own.
Shocked vs Other Mutations
- Shocked vs Wet — Wet (roughly 2x) is the common base state from any rain; Shocked is the rare strike from thunderstorms only. They stack: Wet + Shocked is around 200x base value and is the natural sequence of a single storm session.
- Shocked vs Gold — Gold (roughly 20x) is a growth roll; Shocked is an event strike worth several times more. Completely different triggers — and together they multiply into the thousands of x.
- Shocked vs Frozen — Frozen (roughly 10x) comes from the cold family via the Wet + Chilled transformation. A crop can carry both if a frost follows a storm, stacking into the thousands of x.
- Shocked vs Rainbow — Rainbow (roughly 50x) is the rarest growth mutation. A struck rainbow fruit is a jackpot harvest and a top-tier trading chip.
- Shocked vs limited event mutations — Some limited-time event mutations have higher multipliers, but thunderstorms recur year-round. Shocked is the strongest mutation you can plan a normal week around.
Common Shocked Mutation Mistakes
- Harvesting when the sky darkens. Players see storm weather and reflexively collect. The storm is the payday — harvesting first is backwards.
- Leaving plots empty at storm time. Strikes only land on planted crops. Every empty plot during a thunderstorm is a missed ticket in a rare draw.
- Ignoring pre-storm rain. Crops that enter the storm already Wet sell for roughly double the struck-only value. Do not sell the rain layer before the storm arrives.
- Trading without checking the tag. The spark effect can be faked by lighting and angles. Verify the "Shocked" name tag in the trade window before paying premium prices.
